Nostalgia (a poem)

NOSTALGIA

A rouged French lady
sits in an embroidered parlor
waiting for the boy
to finish chores in the barn.
He enters the room dusting off pants
with blackened hands.
The worn brown couch
accepts his tired body
now eager
for a mid-day replenishment.
He feasts on chocolate layer cake
and creamy cold milk.
Grandma's smile
is all he needs to see
as he stretches a lean body out to rest.
Her love
is strength and rainbows.
