CRACKLING JANUARY


 

CRACKLING JANUARY

Snow crackles
beneath fur-lined boots
and winter tires.
Smoke puffs from
Clinker brick chimneys,
invading church yards
and back yards.
Tree limbs snap
like gunshot
in bitter cold.
